Impossible Walls

We all have had them... Perhaps ones we can't seem to get past... Or ones we build up to keep others out. Either way... They're there.

Tonight I had the opportunity to hear a message about Joshua and the impossible wall he faced. As always, God knew right when I needed Him to show up. I've heard the story... Read the story... And taught on the story myself... But tonight, it just seemed to hit home a little differently.

You see, Joshua faced what seemed to be guaranteed defeat. BUT GOD had another plan. He gave Joshua directions and because Joshua followed those directions, God made the impossible possible. As the song goes, "Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho, and the walls came tumbling down!" (Yes... I sang along as I typed... :)

It's easy to get distracted by our own fears... You know, those things that keep us from stepping out into the unknown. Sometimes it's easier to play it safe than to risk failure... hurt... abandonment... criticism... shame... isolation... lack of approval... or... ?

"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, WHO can be against us?"

Romans 8:31 (NIV)

A good friend of mine works in a position that can often put her in harms way. She once told a story of a man who asked her if the work she did was "safe". Her reply, "Not exactly, but there is no safer place to be than walking in the center of God's will!"

Hello. If God leads us to it, He will bring us through it... BUT we must first be obedient to His calling. If He tells us to march seven times around the walls and sound the horns, but we get lazy and choose to walk around the walls twice, crawl one, sigh and give up... It's our fault if we don't see the walls fall.

Challenge: Pray about the walls in your life and what you need to do to see them fall. Then, do it!
